Ask most brokerage owners what their admin function costs and they will give you a salary figure. That number is almost beside the point. The real cost of administration is not what you pay the admin. It is what a slow or sloppy desk costs everywhere else.
A listing that goes live two days late is two days of leads lost to a faster competitor. A file with a missing document is a deal that stalls at the worst possible moment. An advert without the right permit is exposure you did not need. And an agent doing their own paperwork is an agent not selling, which is the most expensive outcome of all, because selling is the only thing that brings money in.
Seen that way, admin is not overhead. It is throughput. A good desk gets listings live fast and clean, keeps files complete, keeps advertising compliant, and gives agents their time back. That is worth far more than it costs, and a weak desk costs far more than it saves.
So the right question is not how little can we pay for admin. It is what is our slow desk quietly costing us in lost listings, broken deals and selling time. Answer that honestly and the case for getting it right makes itself.
